:: Minnie's Moochers Swing Dance Troupe ::

Minnie's Moochers blew the crowd away with their national debut performance at the American Lindy Hop championships in 1998. Their high energy routine, choreographed entirely by the original group of 14 to 18 year olds, won first place in the Team Division. Since then, the group has grown in numbers and has continued to impress judges and audiences with a high level of excellence and originality. Other competition results, including their triumph in the team division at the 2000 North Atlantic Dance Championships, can be seen here. Individuals from the team have routinely won first place and other high placements in multiple divisions for the past two years.

The Moochers have been sought after to perform at such venues as the Roseland Ballroom in NYC for swing legend Frankie Manning’s birthday celebration, the United Center to open a Chicago Bulls game, the Supper Club in NYC, and twice at the Lincoln Center Plaza.

In addition, they have been flown to perform and teach at numerous dance events including the Grand National Dance Championships, A Natural Ball, the Lindy Hop Body Shop, the Great Southwest Lindy Fest, Swing Out New Hamphire, the Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden, and for a week-long event in Singapore. Individuals in the group have taught weekend workshops throughout the country and teach regular Lindy Hop classes in their hometown of Ithaca, NY.

The Moochers (both a group, and as individuals) are available for performance and instruction. See the engagements page for the current calendar.

News ::

11/2002 - Because most of the group is split up between Ithaca, NYC and Boston, our performances are few and few between nowadays, but we are still performing occationally (generally as a subset of the group) and are available. Members of the group are very active on their own, as well. Contact them via our members page.
